Additionally, a form of Magnesium called "Magtein" (Magnesium L-Threonate), developed by scientists at MIT, has been found to readily cross the blood-brain barrier in animal studies and increase synaptic concentration in the brain.

There are limited human studies at this time, although one available human study did show some promise.
